Slit Lamp Biomicroscope

Righton NS-2D

The Righton NS-2D is a high-quality slit lamp biomicroscope that allows us to examine the front and internal structures of the eye in exceptional detail. Using a bright, focused beam of light combined with magnification, this instrument enables a thorough assessment of the cornea, conjunctiva, iris, lens and anterior chamber.

Slit lamp examination is an essential part of every comprehensive eye examination. It allows us to detect and monitor conditions such as dry eye disease, corneal abnormalities, cataracts, blepharitis, infections and other anterior eye conditions. When used with additional lenses, the slit lamp also helps assess the retina and optic nerve.

The Righton NS-2D provides clear optics and precise illumination control, ensuring accurate diagnosis and careful monitoring of even subtle changes in eye health. The examination is completely painless and non-invasive.

By incorporating advanced slit lamp technology into our examinations, we are able to deliver detailed, high-quality assessments that support early detection, accurate diagnosis and long-term eye health management.

Optical Coherence Tomography
3D OCT-1 Maestro

The NIDEK 3D OCT-1 Maestro is an advanced Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) system that provides highly detailed cross-sectional images of the retina and optic nerve. Using light-wave technology, OCT allows us to view the microscopic layers of the eye with exceptional clarity — well beyond what can be seen in a standard eye examination.

This technology plays a crucial role in the early detection and monitoring of serious eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. By identifying subtle structural changes before symptoms develop, we can intervene earlier and help protect long-term vision.

The 3D OCT-1 Maestro combines OCT imaging with colour fundus photography in a single, efficient scan. The process is fast, non-invasive and comfortable, with no contact required. High-resolution images are stored digitally, allowing us to track changes over time and make informed clinical decisions based on precise data.

For patients with myopia, a family history of eye disease or systemic conditions like diabetes, OCT imaging provides an added layer of reassurance and proactive care.

Incorporating advanced imaging technology such as the NIDEK 3D OCT-1 Maestro ensures we deliver thorough, technology-driven eye examinations focused on early detection, accurate diagnosis and long-term eye health.

Corneal Topography
Medmont E300

The Medmont E300 corneal topographer provides highly detailed mapping of the front surface of the eye (the cornea). Using advanced Placido-disc technology, it creates a precise, colour-coded map that shows the shape, curvature and surface characteristics of the cornea.

Corneal topography is essential for specialty contact lens fitting, including orthokeratology (Ortho-K) and other myopia control treatments. Accurate corneal mapping allows us to design lenses that align precisely with your eye’s unique shape, improving comfort, vision quality and treatment effectiveness.

This technology is also valuable for detecting early corneal irregularities such as keratoconus and monitoring subtle shape changes over time. For patients undergoing myopia management, regular topography helps ensure safe and controlled treatment outcomes.

The scan is quick, non-invasive and completely painless. High-resolution digital maps are stored securely, allowing us to compare results year after year and track even minor changes in corneal structure.

By incorporating advanced corneal mapping technology like the Medmont system, we provide personalised, data-driven eye care to support long-term vision health and optimal treatment results.

Auto Refractor and Tonometer
NIDEK TONOREF II

The NIDEK TONOREF II is a multifunctional diagnostic instrument that combines autorefraction, keratometry and non-contact tonometry in a single, efficient system. This advanced technology allows us to assess your prescription, measure corneal curvature and check intraocular pressure quickly and comfortably.

The autorefraction component provides an objective measurement of your refractive error, offering a reliable starting point for determining your glasses or contact lens prescription. Keratometry measures the curvature of the cornea, which is essential for accurate contact lens fitting and monitoring corneal health.

Importantly, the TONOREF II also measures intraocular pressure (IOP) using a gentle, non-contact air puff method. Monitoring eye pressure is critical for the early detection and management of glaucoma, a condition that can cause irreversible vision loss if left untreated.

The test is fast, non-invasive and requires no direct contact with the eye, making it suitable for patients of all ages. By integrating multiple essential measurements into one advanced device, the NIDEK TONOREF II enhances efficiency while maintaining high diagnostic accuracy.

This technology supports comprehensive eye examinations and ensures we deliver precise, evidence-based care tailored to your individual visual needs.

Axial Length Scanning

Nidek AL-Scan

The NIDEK AL-Scan is an advanced optical biometer designed to provide highly precise measurements of the eye’s internal structures. Using non-contact optical technology, it accurately measures axial length (eye length), corneal curvature, anterior chamber depth and other critical parameters essential for modern eye care.

Axial length measurement is particularly important in myopia management. Even small changes in eye length can indicate progression, especially in children. By monitoring these changes over time, we can assess myopia progression accurately and implement evidence-based treatment strategies such as orthokeratology or other myopia control options.

The AL-Scan also enhances contact lens fitting and refractive assessments by delivering reliable corneal data quickly and comfortably. The test is fast, non-invasive and does not require direct contact with the eye, making it ideal for both adults and children.

With advanced biometry technology like the NIDEK AL-Scan, we can move beyond basic prescription checks and focus on long-term eye health, early intervention and personalised treatment planning to protect vision for years to come.

Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera
Nidek AFC 330

The NIDEK AFC-330 is a high-resolution, non-mydriatic retinal camera that allows us to capture detailed digital images of the back of the eye without the need for dilating drops in most cases. This advanced imaging technology enables early detection and ongoing monitoring of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal abnormalities.

By providing clear, wide-field colour images of the retina, optic nerve and blood vessels, the AFC-330 helps us document subtle changes over time. This is particularly valuable for patients with myopia, diabetes or a family history of eye disease, where early intervention can make a significant difference in long-term vision outcomes.

The imaging process is quick, comfortable and non-invasive. High-quality digital images are stored securely, allowing for precise comparisons at future visits and supporting informed clinical decisions.

Using advanced retinal imaging like the NIDEK AFC-330 is part of our commitment to delivering thorough, technology-driven eye care and protecting your vision for the future.

Visual Fields
Medmont E700

The Medmont E700 is an advanced automated visual field analyser used to assess your peripheral (side) vision. Visual field testing is essential for detecting and monitoring conditions that may affect the optic nerve and visual pathways, even before noticeable symptoms occur.

This technology plays a critical role in the early detection and ongoing management of glaucoma. It can also help identify visual field loss related to neurological conditions, optic nerve disorders and other retinal diseases.

During the test, you will look at a central target while small lights appear in different areas of your peripheral vision. You simply press a button when you see a light. The system then creates a detailed map of your visual field, highlighting any areas of reduced sensitivity.

The Medmont E700 provides highly reliable and repeatable results, allowing us to track subtle changes over time. Comparing results year after year helps us detect progression early and adjust treatment if necessary.

Visual field testing is non-invasive and an important part of comprehensive eye care, particularly for patients at risk of glaucoma or those with a family history of eye disease. Incorporating advanced technology like the Medmont E700 ensures accurate diagnosis and proactive long-term vision protection.
